More charges are being brought against a former Laredo police officer.
In an indictment unsealed in federal court, 27-year-old Orlando Jesus Hale is being charged with mail and wire fraud for allegedly devising a scheme to defraud insurance companies out of thousands of dollars.
The indictment accuses hale of taking vehicles from the United States and then driving them to Mexico, where they were sold.
The owners of the vehicles would then file a fraudulent police report with Hale or another police officer recruited and paid by Hale, reporting the vehicles stolen.
